Los Gatos is located in the heart of the most productive tomato-growing region in the world. California's fertile Central Valley produces over one-third of all processing tomatoes worldwide.

The vast majority of the world's commercial processing tomato production is grown in two narrow bands between the 36th and 38th parallels in both the northern and southern hemispheres. Approximately two-thirds of the world's tomato production comes from the northern strip with the balance produced in the south. Both regions enjoy long summers and have abundant annual precipitation in the winter; ideal “Mediterranean” conditions perfect for tomato production.
